You can place your test IP.Board installation in any directory, and this will still function. However, you must have an 'active' license for this to work correctly.
Where you add your license key in your ACP, paste your key in and add "-TESTINSTALL" without the quotes, to activate it. This will not cause any issues to your main licensed forum and complies with IPS terms of use.
We run a test board on here, however it is not publicly available, and locked down with registrations disabled - so only we have access to use it and test modifications. With 3.2 now released in beta with all apps, it is very useful to get a better idea of all the new features. We will not upgrade this forum to 3.2 until most of our current apps have been updated as well.
