Hi Les, and staff and users...:)

It's nice to be here and to mix with talented people such as dear Les!

Always been a vB user, so this new site and platform will take a little getting used to!

Anyway, good luck to Echelondesigners.com

Thanks for having me!:)

Hi wendolm,

I'm surprised you found this site, I don't remember posting about it anywhere - unless I'm losing my marbles!

I always was a vB user until they released 4.0.3 and then the latest 4.0.7 - both of these are the worse versions to date in their series 4. I wanted a solid platform, not one that was half-baked from a previous version. 4.0.7 has caused more headaches than all of them lately, people are losing data on their vbcms, due to bugs. 4.0.3 was not too bad, that just crashed a few database tables every so often.

IPB I used to use when it was free way back in 2003, but I did not really like it back then, over the years it has grown - more so lately with people dumping vBulletin. vBulletin may have a customer database of over 50,000, but how many of them are happy with Internet Brands and vBulletin as it stands. They have all these plans lately, but fail to fix the ones they have already created!!! <_<

There is quite a lot of areas I haven't opened on here yet, guess I should put up a 'beta' sign! lol

Thanks for signing in and introducing yourself, even though I rant on a bit...hehe

yes, I'm on vB4.0.3 and had to do a number of code 'performance changes' to php files; thanks to digitalpoint! The changes are only now going in the the next version 4.0.8. The queries were just terrible, and seems like a rushed affair in the vB dev area...it's quite shameful!

My service licence ran out just after vB4.0.3, and I just can't afford to pay more money on this buggy product!

I found your link somewhere on the other site, the only thing I had to work out was whether the Admin was our dear Les!! :)

Well, that sounds about right, vBulletin is very unstable. I bought the suite in their pre-sale back last year, when it was not even released to the public, which was strange. It must have been the worst descision I made, I certainly will not be buying vB5 when they cannot even get vB4 to a solid working product.

Since I purchased IPB, I have not had a single issue apart from me doing some stupid things with the coding, but that was easily rectified within minutes. Lately, on the vBulletin Publishing Suite the vBcms is causing major issues on many installs, again down to more bugs. It is about time they got their act together and sorted out a solid product, and stopped releasing what I would class as 'alpha' software. At the moment, vBulletin's upgrade schedules are as bad as Microsoft, if you look at the other issues as well, code left in in from vBulletin 3 (I was expecting a brand new product, not one made of two parts!!), bloated download packages (images left in from older versions), etc.

I noticed lately some of the vBulletin styling websites are failing to produce well coded styles, some of them have obvious code problems that they have introduced, while others do not even pass w3c standards.

Ah, I must of posted the link somewhere - old age getting to me..lol Yeah, I did change my username - I got tired of the old one! :D

well, I use vBadvanced CMPS, and have found that works just right with my version of vB4! Yes,from what I've been rading many coder's and designer's have abandoned vBulletin as a result of this mess. I just wonder if anyone has taken them to Court for compensation?!

You say you're closing the other site, but where will your vB site go...will it be a sub domained here?
